Hi Everyone! Is it May already?? Wow, time does fly, doesn’t it? Here in New Jersey, it’s still pretty chilly out, especially for someone who has spent so many recent years in the south. Still, things are turning green and soon I’ll visit the beach and sip a little wine while I try to figure out what’s going on with the Doucette family – and those sexy Montgomerys. Well, you guy’s all spend a little time enjoying the May flowers and let me know if you liked Rocks And Hard Places, okay? I’ve finished Eye Candy and Ashes in the Wind is close on its heels. After that, I’ll give you all a nice vampire book to sink your teeth into. It’s going to be a real hot summer boys and girls, so grab an icy cold drink and settle in! I don’t want you to miss a thing. Cosmo and I are stocking up on M&Ms and rawhide chews and writing our hearts out – more me than him, but you knew that. Clearly, though, she was involved with Mr. Something. He watched as they leaned together, completely engrossed in each other. When the other man kissed her forehead, Jack finished his drink and left. Instead of heading to his apartment, he headed back to his office. For some reason, he hadn't felt like going home. He’d fallen asleep in desk his chair when a tiny noise woke him. Was he dreaming? He must be because Erika Arnold was leaning over him. He slowly reached up and touched her face. He heard her inhale sharply. She turned her head to look at him. Her eyes were huge. The scarf she’d wound around her silvery blond hair had slipped down. The bulky leather bomber jacket she wore had slipped from one petite shoulder. Jack leaned forward and put his feet on the floor. He stood, closing the distance between them. He pulled the scarf off of her and tossed it aside. Subconsciously, he knew he’d want a souvenir – she wouldn’t find that scarf later. She tilted her head up to look at his face. That was all the invitation he needed. He lowered his mouth to hers. At first he just moved his mouth over hers but it wasn’t enough. He licked her lips and nibbled, sipping and tasting. He slid the jacket off her shoulders. “What are we doing, Erika? Tell me to stop,” he groaned in a whisper. “I can’t, Jack. I want it too bad. You want it too bad. I can’t tell you to stop,” she whispered back to him, her voice cracking. “Please, Jack.” “Please what, Erika?” he murmured into her neck. “I don’t know, just … please!” she moaned, leaning her head back and closing her eyes. He lowered his mouth to hers and began nipping at her lips. A voracious hunger swept him and he groaned, aching to taste her. She seemed just as hungry for him. Her lips parted and he entered her mouth. He stroked her teeth with his tongue and explored her sweet flavor. He caressed her palate with his tongue enjoying the soft silk texture he found. Her knees seemed turned to jelly and he slid an arm under them. He easily carried her to his sofa and laid her down carefully. Without breaking the kiss, he unbuttoned and removed his shirt. Erika ran her fingers through the blanket of hair on his chest and groaned into his mouth. Jack kissed her face, her neck, her ear, at the same time, he pulled her tee shirt over her head. He felt her scraping her shoes off and he unsnapped her jeans, sliding them down her hips. He sat up to look at her. She wore a royal blue lace confection that both covered and displayed her shapely feminine body. The teddy was more lace than satin and hugged her breasts and hips lovingly. “Oh God,” Jack groaned in a whisper. “I have never seen anything so beautiful.” “It’s the color of your eyes,” she whispered in return. “Erika, this is probably a mistake, but I want you, you know I want you,” he knew it was too late. There was no going back now. “I want you, too, Jack, or I wouldn’t be almost naked underneath you on this couch. I’ll be gone tomorrow – gone for a year,” she didn’t move but looked deep into his eyes. “Just a taste, hmmm? A taste for you and a taste for me?” he arched a brow at her and the flush of arousal staining her shoulders and throat deepened into embarrassment. She didn’t look away though, still regarding him steadily. Finally, her lips curved in a teasing little smile. “Just a little taste of Eye Candy.” “When did you hear me say that?” he murmured the question, still holding back though he wanted nothing more than to pounce and ravish without further delay. “I hear lots of things… you’d be surprised. Maybe we can talk about it after I get back?” she tilted her head sideways and her hair slipped off of her shoulders accentuating her elegant neck. “No more talking now,” he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm his raging libido. Nothing more was said as she leaned forward to kiss his nipple and run her hands along his arms. He let her explore his chest, down his abdomen, even allowed her to help him remove is pants and boxers. He sat on the couch and leaned toward her when she slid over him and pushed him back. She placed herself between his thighs and he tried to resist. “Please?” she whispered. Jack was sure he was dead. Only in heaven did beautiful blonde angels beg permission to pleasure a man this way. She wrapped both hands around his rigid erection one above the other and then touched her tongue to the slit on top. She licked him again, savoring the taste of the clear liquid. STILL WATERS by Deanna Lee Available at Loose Id Senior Inspector for Section 4, New Orleans, Kyra Moray is used to the unusual cases. When a serial killer makes her beat his hunting ground, things go from unusual to horrific in no time. This work had me riveted from the beginning to the last word. I can’t wait to find out what happens next for Kyra. Each of the characters was well developed and riveting. Deanna’s wonderful sense of humor and unique view of the world didn’t let me down once. If this futuristic first in her new science fiction series is a representative of the series, Deanna has a devoted Kyra-junkie in me.
TWICE IN LIFE by Kenneth E. Baker Available from Wings ePress Sometimes in life, you get a second chance. As this book began, Jennifer Harding and Derrick Rafferty are both sure that the best part of their lives has come and gone. They’re going through the motions and marking time. As the story gathers steam, the two meet and get to know each other just a bit. When Jennifer’s sister, Mary comes to stay for a visit, life gets a little too exciting first for Jennifer and Mary and then for the nice widowed rancher, Derrick, that Jennifer turns to for help. Before I knew it, I’d gone from reading a sweet love story to reading a thriller. It put me on the edge of my seat and kept me involved right to the end.
THE CHOSEN ONE by Kenneth E. Baker Available from Wings ePress In this book, Mr. Baker begins with the question, “what if?” As he begins to answer that, we meet Bill and the love of his life, Tony, a beautiful girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders – or what’s left of it. As this story develops, you’ll be impressed with the richness of the characters as well as the detail of the plot. I have read several books by Ken Baker and like snowflakes and diamonds, I’ve discovered that no two are alike but every one of them is worth having around. This book was thrilling to say the least. I found myself intrigued and more involved in this tale with every turn of the page. If I had any complaints they would be that I want more.
DINNER FOR TWO by Deanna Lee Available from Venus Press What a GREAT little story. Anne-Marie’s day was going so badly that she’d have to be shot for it to get any worse. Hugh didn’t think his day could get any better. Thank God for life’s little ironies. Deanna Lee tells a sensual, seductive story and I loved it. I laughed, nodded, clapped and then I read it again.
